Rest my Alex rest...

Last night was rough, when I got home Alex wasn't doing so good. He was meowing & trying to get comfortable but trying to be in the middle of my feet like always. I had to keep putting him back in his box & I tried my best to keep him comfy. Sean had given him some more of the pain medicine & I don't think that it seemed to work. I watched as he climbed out of his box & walked down the hall & laid in front of the kid's room. Kalleigh was taking a nap so he laid outside her door & went to sleep. The medicine finally had kicked in & he got a few hours of sleep in. After we all ate, I found him in the bathroom trying to get comfy once again. Poor big guy, he wanted to just lay down & not hurt anymore. Sean brought some food in for him & he ate a bit of it which we thought was a good sign. I gave him a bowl of water & he drank a bit & curled up next to me to sleep.
Later around 9:30 Sean came & grabbed me & said that Alex wasn't going to make it through the night. His breathing had become almost non existent. I laid my hand on him & realized he was gone. He then took a few more breaths & looked at Sean & I as if he was saying "good-bye".
We cried & told him to go, I didn't want to see him hurt anymore. I told him it was okay to go & to sleep. We sat with him for a while & cried. I held him in my arms not wanting to let go, I didn't want him to leave us. Not now. This big "fat cat" has been part of Sean & I for the last five years it was hard to see him go. I know that he is so much better off, not in pain anymore & free to run. Sean had him for a while about five years before we met. It's just hard. He was such a lovable cat & all he ever wanted was attention.
No more of him peeking inside the window at night to let him in. No more plopping on my bed laying on my feet. No more hiding in my covers to sleep when I haven't made my bed in the morning. No more snuggling close to me purring up a storm. All the memories that we have had are just that now. Memories.
It's amazing how when you walk in the door everything is so different. Pets have a way of making your day so much brighter when it's been bad. I know that he is at peace finally & he is not in pain from the attack, but that sure doesn't change how I feel or how Sean or Kenion's emotions are. We will surely miss him & I will never forget him. Ever.
I love you my "ally cat". Sleep peacefully now. Sleep.

Neverending....

So my weekend was a bit hectic you could say...
Friday I went to help my aunt set up for a huge yard sale to be held Saturday morning. Let's just say that it is so much easier to accomplish a task without the help of little miss fat pants. I think between trying to help & watching Kalleigh I was so exhausted by the time I got home I don't remember even falling asleep. Sean & I had a bet to see who would be out first between the two of us & I won!! Yeah 5 more minutes of sleep!! So in the morning I got up & went to Springville to help with the yard sale. I think that it is absolutely funny at really how cheap people are. I'm telling you there was a ton of stuff that we had marked so low in price that we were basically giving it away & they still wouldn't pay what the sticker said.
If you ever want totally cheap entertainment follow a few yard saler's around. You're bound to get a good laugh.
On Sunday we went to see my mom & stepdad's new house. It was so great to see them & spend some time with them. We don't get to see them a whole lot anymore since they live in Ogden, but Sean & I needed to go up & get away for a few hours.
This morning I called for my fat "Alex" (Sean's fat cat) to come in & eat, he was nowhere to be seen. This cat is the one that will greet you when you open the door because he needs to eat. So I knew that something was wrong. I found him in the garage laying all balled up & he wouldn't respond to me. My heart instantly sank & I hoped that he was ok. I brought him in the house & cried thinking that he was dying. Sean & I took him to the vet this morning & the vet looked at him & then proceeded to check him out. The vet shaved his back end & his belly & we found a huge bruise on his belly. The vet thinks that he was either kicked really hard or attacked. He then found a few bite marks on Alex's tail that confirmed the attack. Poor old boy, I'm pretty sure that one of the neighbor 3 huge dogs got him last night. So he's back at home & drugged up catching a few z's.
